The Rock is a massive figure in WWE culture, and fans want nothing more than to see his return. Roman Reigns vs The Rock is one of the most anticipated WWE matches. Many fans expect the contest to take place at WrestleMania 39. Ex-WWE writer Brian Gewirtz thinks nobody should get their hopes up about The Rock’s return to WWE.
Gewirtz spoke with NBC Sports’ Steve Fall and said that The Rock might be focusing his energy elsewhere. He pointed out that The Rock is also in the process of launching the XFL with Dany Garcia. So, the Great One’s plate is full right now.
I saw an internet report at one point saying ‘Oh The Rock’s not shooting any movies in February.’ I don’t know if he is or not but he is launching with Dany [Garcia] a gigantic football league so that might take some time too.
The Rock’s time off from his busy filming schedule made a lot of headlines earlier this year. An episode of Young Rock also teased that a match between Roman Reigns and The Rock could only take place in WrestleMania. Then again, Young Rock also teased a US Presidential bid, but The Rock already said that’s off the table.
Brian Gewirtz is a close friend of The Rock, and he works for Seven Bucks Productions. After working as a WWE writer for several years, he is now alongside the People’s Champion on a regular basis. It really depends on what The Rock actually does when the time comes, because the anticipation for the match is always at a high.
