Malakai Black was let go by WWE back in June last year, after a very disappointing run on the main roster. Black eventually signed with AEW, and fans were glad he finally had a chance to truly show everyone what he could accomplish. Unfortunately, nothing much came out of it and his AEW run was dragged for being a disappointment.

Black was the leader of the House Of Black alongside Brody King and Buddy Matthews, and they found some form of success. Despite that, many fans felt Black didn’t quite live up to his potential in AEW.

While speaking on the Jim Cornette Reviews AEW’s Roster episode of the Jim Cornette Experience, Jim Cornette dragged Malakai Black’s AEW run for being a disappointment.

“This guy has been a disappointment since the start. Remember he looked good, we thought, ‘Okay, guy looks like a bad*ss. Had some buzz about him, came in, did the thing with Cody, and then all of a sudden supernatural city came in, and every match of his, he would have a good match that would go in the toilet because he was playing some kind of spooky mind games with people.

Then he gets a group around him and they cater to him until he realises he ain’t getting over, and then he wants to go back to where he kinda got over a little better.”

Malakai Black also recently dropped a cryptic tease amidst his absence from AEW. We will have to wait and see when Black will make his return to AEW television.
