Saraya Mentioned During This Week’s WWE SmackDown

Saraya was left with no choice but to retire from in-ring competition in 2017 and that brought about a lot of changes in general. The former Paige remained relevant in other roles for years after that, but she never wrestled again.

The first-ever NXT Women’s Champion left the company back in July after WWE decided not to renew her contract for some reason. She then made her All Elite Wrestling debut during ‘Dynamite: Grand Slam.

During this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, Emma made her return to WWE television as she answered Ronda Rousey’s SmackDown Women’s Title open challenge

While discussing Emma, Michael Cole mentioned former WWE star ‘Paige’, who is now Saraya in AEW. Saraya and Emma were rivals during NXT’s early days as a developmental brand. In fact, Saraya beat Emma to become the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion in June 2013.

Emma’s match against Rousey was her first since October 2017. We will have to wait and see how Emma will be booked in the coming weeks.
