Matt Cardona Says ‘Zack Ryder Is Dead’

Matt Cardona worked with WWE from 2004 to 2020 under the ring name Zack Ryder. During his tenure with WWE, Zack Ryder became one of the more popular superstars in the company. However, people behind the scenes never gave him the push he deserved.

Ryder was finally released from his WWE contract in 2020. Then he started appearing on the independent circuits under his real name, Matt Cardona. While numerous WWE superstars returned to the company under the new regime, Matt Cardona wasn’t one of those superstars.

A fan asked via Twitter whether fans would be interested in a Zack Ryder WWE return. Matt Cardona caught wind of this tweet and replied that Zack Ryder is dead.

“Zack Ryder is dead. Long live Matt Cardona!,” tweeted Matt Cardona.

Although he tweeted that Zack Ryder is dead, it doesn’t mean he won’t ever return to the WWE. It could also mean that he just won’t return to WWE as Zack Ryder, given the amount of success he is enjoying as Matt Cardona.

Matt Cardona even mentioned that he will pick up the phone if Triple H called him. We will have to wait and see if Matt Cardona decides to step back into a WWE ring again.
