The investigation into the post-AEW All Out physical altercation has reportedly concluded. That resulted in Ace Steel’s release and negotiations of buying out CM Punk’s contract. This fueled speculation about them joining WWE.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there have been no conversations between WWE and CM Punk at this time. Of course, Punk is still technically under an AEW contract, since his time with the company has not officially ended, therefore WWE would be unable to contact him.

Steel, on the other hand, is currently a free agent after being released for his involvement in the fight, which allegedly saw him bite Kenny Omega on the arm. He was a producer for AEW and appeared on-screen during Punk’s rivalry against Jon Moxley. According to Meltzer, there is no indication as to how Paul Levesque or Nick Khan feel about the situation.

WrestleVotes, on the contrary, said that as of July, Levesque wanted nothing to do with Phil Brooks. Bringing CM Punk back to WWE would be a huge deal, especially in the midst of a wrestling war. However, the negativity that is now around him, as well as how his time with WWE ended, may make his return difficult.

Punk is also now suffering from a triceps injury, which means he is not cleared to compete. Meanwhile, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks were all backstage at the recent “AEW Dynamite,” interacting with fellow roster members as a video package aired on television ahead of their expected comeback.

Let’s see what happens next, because there could still be a lot to unpack here. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Ringside News.
