Austin Theory grabbed WWE Money in the Bank back in July. He has been using the briefcase ever since. Theory, however, was not previously promoted for the event.
WWE’s strategy for handling Theory as the owner of the briefcase has been the subject of fan speculation. In a surprising visit last week on NXT TV, Theory teased cashing in his briefcase on NXT Champion Bron Breakker. However, Theory wasn’t anywhere to be seen after Breakker successfully defended the title at Halloween Havoc last Saturday.
WrestleVotes informed GiveMeSport that a never-before-considered proposal for Theory, who would be the first person to hold the briefcase for a year, has been discussed and is “on the table.”
There is an idea that he is the first guy to wait a full year, like the day of or, let’s say, the night of Money in the Bank next year. That’s the storyline, like ‘you have to cash this in two and a half hours. You have to cash this in 90 minutes.’ That type of thing. I know that idea is on the table.
WWE might have made him the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion at that point, according to WrestleVotes, or he might have failed his cash-in. Keep an eye on Ringside to follow as things unfold.
