Shawn Michaels was part of the production of WWE NXT Halloween Havoc this past weekend. WWE’s version of the former WCW event has been passed down to NXT, but HBK hasn’t forgotten about the past.
The company has now held three premium live events under the Halloween Havoc name. Halloween Havoc was one of WCW’s signature shows. It featured multiple major main events, including steel cage fights between Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, as well as Hogan and Roddy Piper.
Michaels never got the opportunity to wrestle at Halloween Havoc since he never worked for WCW. “I would have loved a Halloween Havoc match against Randy Savage,” Michaels said during an interview with Sports Illustrated.
I got to work with ‘Mach a couple of times, but it was when I was younger. I certainly wasn’t at his maturity level, professionally or physically in the ring, or knowledge-wise. For me, it’s either Randy or Eddie Guerrero. Either of those would have been fantastic.
In the late 1990s, there was speculation that Michaels may leave WWE for WCW to join his friends Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. Former WCW President Eric Bischoff, on the other hand, said on several occasions that he did not want anything to do with the “Heartbreak Kid.” Bischoff described Michaels at the time as a “basket case.”
Nobody in their “right mind” would have wanted to bring Michaels into WCW at the time, he added. However, this does not appear to be the situation right now. To get the latest updates, keep an eye on Ringside.
