Tomorrow’s edition of AEW Rampage will undergo a change to the match card. This will be a live show, so anything can happen.
Originally, Wheeler Yuta was set to team with Claudio Castagnoli to take on Angelo Parker and Matt Menard. However, it appears that match will not take place.
AEW posted a video via Twitter. During the video, Wheeler Yuta explained that he double-booked himself tomorrow for both AEW and NJPW. Yuta further noted that he will be honoring his NJPW booking since it was his initial booking. He also announced that Jon Moxley will cover for him by taking on Matt Menard in an AEW World Title Eliminator Match.
“Well, folks, it seems I’ve found myself in a little bit of a pickle. I got a little too excited celebrating my birthday and my big win last night on Dynamite and I’ve accidentally double-booked myself for Friday committing to a match on AEW Rampage as well as one for New Japan Strong. Now, I did make the New Japan Strong commitment first and in the Blackpool Combat Club, we honor our commitments. So, I will be at New Japan Strong this Friday. Don’t fret AEW fans, New Japan will be sending one of their best and brightest stars very soon and there will be a replacement match featuring a Blackpool Combat Club member. It’s the World Champion, Jon Moxley.”
This isn’t the first time that Jon Moxley is covering for a fellow AEW wrestler. A couple of months ago, Jon Moxley covered for CM Punk after the latter was suspended following a backstage altercation after the All Out Media Scrum. It will be interesting to see if the tag match which was originally set to take place will be postponed to next week’s Dynamite or Rampage shows.
