Wade Barrett had a memorable first run in WWE which saw him win the first season of NXT, become the leader of The Nexus and have championship runs. Barrett returned to NXT in 2020 and has been playing a color commentator role since then.
Bad New Barrett signed a full-time contract back in 2020. It was then revealed that Barrett had signed a contract extension with the company. Barrett hasn’t competed inside the squared circle since his WWE departure in 2016.
While speaking on Out of Character with Ryan Satin, Wade Barrett addressed potentially making his in-ring return. Barrett made it clear he does not rule out returning.
“I’ve never ruled out getting back in the ring one day. I won’t say it’s high on my list of priorities. I don’t think I could physically do the full time grind anymore, more mentally than physically. I think my body could hold up. I’m still in very good shape. I keep myself fit. But I think that the grind of doing that job full time for who knows how long would be very difficult for me at this point because I’ve just got other avenues now and other things I enjoy doing, most obviously, the commentary side of things, which I wouldn’t want to give up.”
We will have to wait and see whether the former leader of the Nexus will end up competing in the ring in the future or not.
