WWE is an ever-changing product and continues to give people something different. This has been the case even more after Triple H took charge as the head of Creative. That saw a big shift in the roster, and the announce teams also saw a shake-up.
For a long time, Wade Barrett was part of the NXT commentary team and had a great time there. He was then called up to the main roster and has been a staple of Friday Night Smackdown alongside Michael Cole.
While speaking on Out of Character with Ryan Satin, Barrett discussed a wide range of topics. The former Bad News Barrett revealed when he found out about joining the announce team.
“I probably found out maybe three or four days before I took the first trip over. It was very much a last minute decision. Pat McAfee’s off for two or three months during his college football stop. Initially, they had Corey Graves stepping in and filling the seat, but I think Cory probably had a lot on his plate. He does a hell of a lot for WWE with all the Pay-per-views and RAW and he’s got his podcast. So I think maybe somebody needed to pick up a little slack on behalf of Cory, so that’s when they gave me the call and asked me to step in there.”
We will have to wait and see how long Wade Barrett will be part of the commentary team on the blue brand. If anything, Barrett certainly adds a new flare to things.
