Hulk Hogan is widely regarded as a benchmark in the pro wrestling world. Millions of fans think about Hulk Hogan the moment pro wrestling comes to mind. Now, another man could be stepping into that mindset.
Brett Lauderdale recently opened up in a big way during “The Business of the Business” podcast, that Nick Gage “has value beyond an active wrestler.” He then went on to compare Gage to the two-time WWE Hall of Famer.
“Financially and bottom-line speaking, he will always be good at selling merchandise whether he’s wrestling or not. He’s like Hulk Hogan of the indies.”
Gage is 42-years-old, and his career is still climbing. Getting his own Dark Side of the Ring episode certainly helped things. Lauderdale went on to discuss how the deathmatch wrestler seems inhuman at times, despite the fact that he literally died after one of his most dangerous matches.
“We like to think that Nick is indestructible, and sometimes he doesn’t seem human, but he’s very human, and doing what he’s done for 20-plus years does take a real toll on the body, and eventually there will be a day where he can’t do this anymore. We were fortunate to find out a couple weeks ago was not that day, but at the same time, we know that day will come sooner or later. So it’s important for all of us to enjoy seeing NIck wrestle while we still can. Each match we get, we’re lucky.”
This is high praise for anyone to receive. We’ll have to see what’s next for Nick Gage, but you can never write him out, no matter how far into his career the relentless pro wrestler ventures.
