Shawn Michaels is certainly one of the best in-ring performers to have ever graced a WWE ring. He was touted as Mr. WrestleMania, and he truly lived up to the name.
Michaels has always exceeded expectations when it comes to performing in a match. Many say that he was so good inside the ring, that HBK could even have a believable match with a broomstick.
When Shawn Michaels returned from a four-year hiatus at WWE SummerSlam 2002, he faced numerous top opponents. However, he never faced Eddie Guerrero. While speaking on the “Something To Wrestle With” podcast, Bruce Prichard confirmed the match was discussed for WrestleMania 22, but Guerrero passed away.
Speaking during the Conference Call ahead of NXT Halloween Havoc, Michaels addressed the rumored match and admitted he wasn’t sure who would’ve won had the match taken place.
“I’ve heard somebody pitched it at a creative meeting. It would’ve been a blast to do.
Where we were at later on in our careers, we probably would’ve argued about who was putting who over,” he said. “Neither one of us would’ve had a problem, that’s for sure. It would be my honor to put Eddie Guerrero over.”
Since Triple H took over creative duties of WWE, Shawn Michaels has been put in charge of NXT and he has done good job bringing out the young roster’s talent with a couple of welcome changes.
