AEW President Tony Khan has a lot of passion for professional wrestling and no one doubts that whatsoever. However, his reputation has taken a hit over the past year or so.

The AEW All Out media scrum ended in chaos after CM Punk went on a scathing rant on Colt Cabana, Hangman Page, and The Young Bucks, verbally decimating everyone involved.

Khan has also tried to be overly friendly with all of his talent and always tries to hug them. While speaking on SmackTalk, Dutch Mantell advised Tony khan to stop trying to be friends with his talent, especially those like CM Punk.

“It goes back to Tony [Khan], I think trying to be friends with some of these guys. And it never works out because the inmates end up running the asylum, and he’s got to deal with all the aftermath. Like CM Punk doing that scrum interview and Tony sitting right beside him, and he would say something detrimental…and Tony agreeing with him.

That’s not a good look for the company. It’s not a good look for Tony. It’s not a good look for CM Punk. So I think he needs to crack down and quit trying to be friends with these guys if that’s what he’s trying to do.”

We will have to wait and see whether Tony Khan will eventually get better at handling various situations such as this and help the company in the end.
