Mustafa Ali had a lot of potential following his main roster debut in 2019. Unfortunately, none of it was realized as he was involved in numerous failed and forgettable angles.
Ali was engaged in a feud with Austin Theory for the WWE United States Championship. Unfortunately, he was not able to beat Theory for the title a few months ago.
Since that match with Theory, Ali has not really done all that much. However, on this week’s RAW, Ali attacked Seth Rollins after the main event. Ali chased Rollins off, standing tall to close out the show.
While speaking Legion of RAW, former WWE writer Vince Russo talked about Mustafa Ali’s involvement on the show and blasted WWE for trying to get him over.
“They are booking Ali and Seth because it’s gonna be a great five-star match. Who cares? Nobody cares! You’re never gonna get this guy [Ali] over, bro! In his current form, with what he already hasn’t done, it wasn’t on him, bro.
“It was terrible booking and terrible writing… Okay, we are gonna put Ali and Rollins, Meltzer would give it 5-stars and everybody would say, ‘What a great match,’ but you won’t draw one extra fan, not one!”
By the looks of it, perhaps WWE will have Mustafa Ali get involved in the US Title picture again. We’ll have to see whether that happens or not.
