Bret Hart is widely regarded as one of the best in-ring workers ever. His technical were so good, every time Bret Hart would wrestle, it felt like listening to a beautiful symphony. Sadly, his career was cut short when he took a nasty kick to the head at Starrcade in 1999 that left him concussed.
Although Bret Hart would wrestle a couple of times in the early 2000s and even return in 2010 for a match, the concussion he suffered in 1999 continued to plague. During a K&S Wrestlefest signing, Bret Hart mentioned that he would’ve loved to face Brock Lesnar and even called him a “good pro.”
“Kurt Angle would have been one of my primary guys. He always wanted to work with me and I wish I could’ve worked with him. I would have loved to work with Brock Lesnar just because I always heard he was a good pro in the ring. The opposite of Goldberg,” said Hart.
Bret Hart also continued to say that he would’ve loved to have worked with Rey Mysterio. He called Rey Mysterio as “one of the greatest of all time.”
“A guy I really wish I could have worked with would have been Rey Mysterio. Rey was really as special or unique as Andre The Giant was, in a different way. There is only one great masked wrestler in the history of wrestling, that was really great, and that’s Rey Mysterio. Rey has always been one of the best. When I think of great wrestlers, I always overlook Rey but he’s one of the greatest of all time. I’ve always respected him and wish I could have worked with him,” he said.
Fans can only speculate the dream matches that could’ve taken place had it not been for his severe concussion that forced him to step. However, Bret Hart hasn’t stepped away from the world of professional wrestling as he will manage FTR at Big Time Wrestling on October 22.
