Bray Wyatt cut his first promo since his return on the October 14th episode of SmackDown. He was visibly emotional as he told the crowd he was being himself and not anything else. The promo resulted in the show seeing an increased viewership. According to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, there was a significant increase in the 18-49 demographic.
The quarter-hour with Bray Wyatt’s live promo at the end of Smackdown last Friday grew the audience by 9% and by 16% in P18-49. Highest quarter of the show for P18-49 and one of the biggest quarter-to-quarter growth rates of the year for Smackdown.
The 16 percent gain in the key demo is by far the most significant boost in viewership. Outside of the Wyatt’s promo, the highest quarter-hour improvements in the key demo were only 2%. Aside from that WWE has seen an overall shift in viewership since Vince McMahon stepped down.
