Cody Rhodes left AEW back in February, and fans were certainly surprised by this. Prior to his exit, Rhodes was one of the highlights of AEW television. He helped put over numerous talents during his time there, including the likes of Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin, MJF and many more.
Rhodes was almost always booed in AEW during the tail end of his run in the company. Fans simply wanted him to turn heel no matter what, but that never happened. Rhodes also does not want to change a thing about that.
AEW has also been suffering from several backstage issues in the past couple of months, especially those involving CM Punk. Speaking on The Universal Wrestling podcast, Mike Chioda discussed AEW’s backstage issues. Chioda stated that he believes things are going haywire in AEW.
“I was shocked to see Cody go back, I really was.
“When Cody started with Tony Khan, this whole starting AEW, I was just shocked that Cody went back and Tony Khan let him go.
“So you knew there was things going haywire up on the top already before all this.”
We will have to wait and see whether AEW will be able to fix its issues soon enough, as the company’s reputation is not the best right now.
