Over the past week, two of the most popular backstage interviewers returned to pro wrestling. Cathy Kelley returned to WWE and is now on the Monday Night Raw brand, while Renee Paquette is now a part of AEW. These are great times, however, fans are now doing comparisons between the two.
Kelley is now squashing those comparisons. In a tweet sent after Paquette’s debut on AEW Dynamite last night, Kelley gave a message to fans trying to make things a competition between her and Paquette.
“Imagine comparing women instead of celebrating more female voices in wrestling,”
Paquette may have been busy last night, but she appeared to echo Kelley’s sentiments, going to Twitter earlier this morning to post a simple pointing tweet toward what Kelly was saying.
Kelley began her career with WWE back in 2016 and would work there for four years as a backstage interviewer and personality before departing the company in 2020. It was announced last week that Kelley’s surprise return as part of WWE’s overhaul of their broadcast team.
Paquette joined WWE in 2012 and remained there until August 2020. She has since devoted time to various projects such as her podcast, “The Sessions with Renee Paquette,” and starting a family with her husband, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley.
There were rumors that Paquette could be joining AEW surfaced last weekend shortly after reports emerged that WWE was also looking to sign her. She was officially announced as “All Elite” an hour before “Dynamite” aired in her hometown of Toronto, Canada, last night.
Is the comparison between Kelly and Paquette fair? Sound off in the comments!
