Antonio Inoki was a giant in the world of professional wrestling. Inoki revolutionized puroresu by putting New Japan Pro Wrestling on the map in the early seventies. The wrestling legend passed away in his home and fans continue to mourn his demise even now.

Antonio Inoki was recognized for his contributions to pro wrestling by WWE as well. The wrestling icon was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Stan Hansen in 2010.

Inoki was trained by legendary pro wrestler Rikidōzan and made his debut alongside fellow puroresu legend Giant Baba in the sixties. The two went their separate ways but retained respect for each other.

New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January will be held in honor of Antonio Inoki.
