Jimmy Smith was an amazing fit for Monday Night RAW, but that time has come to an end. The former MMA commentator broke the news today that he is moving on from Vince McMahon’s former company.
Smith announced on Twitter that he is leaving WWE. This news came after WWE announced major shake ups for every brand’s announce team. Now, Jimmy Smith is moving on, but he had nothing but great things to say about his experiences.
Just wanted to say, now that the story is officially out, that my time with the WWE is officially done. Had a lot of fun and met some great people. Really and truly blown away by the acceptance from the WWE fans! You folks make it work every week and your enthusiasm was amazing!
Friday Night SmackDown’s commentary team will now consist of Michael Cole and Wade Barrett, with Samanta Irvin as ring announcer. Kayla Braxton and Megan Morant will conduct backstage interviews.
The RAW brand will see Corey Graves and Kevin Partick on commentary, and Mike Rome will continue as the ring announcer. Byron Saxton will now do backstage interviews.
Hopefully, Jimmy Smith will appear elsewhere soon. He has a ton of skills and will be missed on RAW. His voice was a great way to tell the story in the ring, and it was obviously that he put a lot of effort into making a smooth transition from MMA to sports entertainment.
