Shawn Spears Seemingly Says ‘Goodbye’ To AEW

Andrade El Idolo has been teasing that he is quitting AEW, as was seen over the weekend. Given that Tony Khan has declared that he is not issuing releases, that appears to be more of an angle than a true departure. Another AEW celebrity has hinted that he’s leaving.

A “Goodbye” GIF that Shawn Spears shared on Twitter was later removed. Apart from the deleted post, there is no further evidence that Spears is departing. Sammy Guevara tweeted shortly after that making a reference to the cryptic GIF.

You are a jobber. A favor hire. Be grateful b-tch.

Guevara’s tweet may indicate that this is simply the beginning of an angle to set up a match. Spears joined the organization in 2019, but this year in particular, he hasn’t shown on Dynamite very often. He last competed in a match of wrestling on the episode of May 25 against Wardlow.

If Spears is leaving, it may be due to the fact that his contract expired and no new arrangement could be reached. Spears later posted an Adam Sandler laughing GIF. Check out the tweets below.
