Eddie Kingston made his AEW debut in July 2020, where he faced off against Cody Rhodes for the TNT Championship. While unsuccessful in the match, Kingston impressed many and signed with the company.
Kingston quickly cemented himself as one of the best talkers in AEW, as his promos are known to be from the heart and very natural. He is also very passionate when it comes to the pro wrestling world.
Chris Jericho had a longstanding rivalry with Eddie Kingston that lasted months as well. Speaking on AEW Unrestricted, Chris Jericho explained how Kingston reminds him of Randy Orton.
“Eddie Kingston reminds me of Randy Orton. Polar opposites in image and gimmick, but neither one of them quite realized just how good they are. They kind of think it’s funny to downplay themselves. They’re both so good. Eddie doesn’t quite get it yet. When he does, he’s going to be a world champion. Not that he doesn’t now, but he still has an inner demon. I think those are going away because he realizes just how good he is. I saw it from the start. I’m a big fan of Eddie Kingston
Jericho worked with Orton many times throughout their respective WWE careers. He is currently the ROH World Champion, so we’ll have to see how he will be booked in the coming weeks.
