WALTER had been a dominant force in WWE ever since he made his debut back in January 2019. The former NXT UK Champion is also the longest-reigning champion in modern WWE. Many WWE Superstars want a piece of him as well.
Back in January, many fans were concerned after it was revealed WWE copyrighted the name Gunther Stark, as it was related to someone who actually served on one of Hitler’s U-Boats.
That is what happened as WALTER’s name was changed to Gunther. Since then, he has seen some success as the Intercontinental Champion on the main roster. Gunther even made it clear he doesn’t want to revert to his WALTER name.
WWE has now announced that Gunther’s Imperium faction will battle the Brawling Brutes in a Donnybrook match at Extreme Rules on October 8. In the WWE.com preview for the show, In that preview, his name is in all capital letters, the same as WALTER was before. Gunther admitted in the past that he wasn’t aware WWE didn’t all caps his new name.
Gunther’s name is now capitalized. We’ll have to see whether this will be a permanent change or not.
