Sheamus had a great career in WWE, winning multiple championships during his time in the company. He has been a mainstay of the company since 2009 and fans greatly respect him.

The Celtic Warrior worked very hard over the years and is a multi-time World Champion as well as a multi-time tag team champion. Sheamus took a hiatus from WWE.in April 2019 after suffering a concussion at WrestleMania 35.

While Sheamus made his televised in-ring return on the February 7, 2020 edition of SmackDown, his actual first match back was at the BT Sport Launch Party in the UK, celebrating a new deal between WWE and BT Sport.

While speaking to  WWE After The Bell, Sheamus admitted that he was disappointed because he thought his return would have a much bigger stage.

“After the concussion I got at the last WrestleMania in New York — I’m so bad at these WrestleMania numbers. There’s so many WrestleManias. So that’s when we’re at New York. I had a concussion on the SmackDown and I was out for a while.

“I had some neck injuries too and I worked on all that stuff and I came back and I was really hyped about it, and instead of being out on the shelf since WrestleMania so I think it was like six months, I was in these backstage promos that really weren’t going anywhere.

“It started off really cool. The first one I did in the backstage, it was coming out. It was like, there was so much hype about it, right? So much hype and then it just happened the week after and the week after.

“It created a lot of story in the beginning but then it just kind of faded out so even before the time the (Royal) Rumble came when I actually got back in the ring with the Shorty G thing, it was like, I was told to go over to B.T. (Studios) and I had a match with Andrade (El Idolo) in the B.T. Arena because we’d just signed a deal with them.

“It was a complete massive, massive let down return because for me, I felt like I deserved to come back on the big stage after everything I’ve done in my career.”

Sheamus will team with Ridge Holland & Butch to face off against Gunther, Ludwig Kaizer & Giovanni Vinci in a Donnybrook match at Extreme Rules on October 8.
