Buddy Matthews was let go by WWE last year and after a run in the indies, including NJPW, he made his way to AEW. He had a decent run as part of The House Of Black stable.

Matthews last competed at AEW Grand Slam, where he and Brody King lost to Darby Allin and Sting. It was said Matthews was leaving the company right after this. This is despite the fact that he denied it.

Matthews recently said that he will be taking time off. It was even said that WWE contacted him. According to PW Insider, Matthews was absent from AEW shows earlier this year because he had to return to Australia to take care of his visa paperwork. There is also no truth to the rumors that he had been suspended by the company.

AEW talent also did not know about Buddy Matthews’ departure from the company. We’ll have to see when Matthews will make his return to AEW television. As we previously reported, Tony Khan isn’t in the mood to let anyone out of their contracts.
