Update: AEW decided to air Battle of the Belts live and not compete with WWE Extreme Rules after all.

Original: AEW is set to bring the next edition of the Battle of the Belts. While they struggled with ratings on Battle of the Belts III, the company will certainly have something special planned for their fourth show.

The first Battle of the Belts show aired on January 8th, 2022, and was main evented by Britt Baker retaining the AEW Women’s World Championship against Riho. The second edition of the show was main evented by Thunder Rosa defending the AEW Women’s World Championship against Nyla Rose on April 15th.

The third show saw Claudio Castagnoli and Konosuke Takeshita compete in the main event for the ROH World Title. AEW Battle of the Belts IV will be taped following the live episode of Rampage in Washington, DC on October 7th. The show will air on October 8th, the same day as Extreme Rules.

It will be very interesting to see how the ratings turn out for AEW Battle of the Belts. Odds are, they will see some very extreme competition with WWE’s gimmick-heavy pay-per-view offering.

While they might not take place on the same time slot, they are definitely being held on the same day. Regardless, we’ll have to see how successful the fourth Battle Of The Belts will be.
