AEW has certainly come far since its debut back in 2019. While it has undergone quite a few changes, not everything has been smooth sailing for the company. A few stars are leaving the company, and AEW talent also had absolutely no idea about Buddy Matthews’ exit.

Buddy Matthews has had an interesting run both in the WWE and in AEW. However, many fans felt his run in AEW didn’t quite go the way they had expected, as part of The House Of Black.

Matthews recently said that he will be taking time off and that he is actually leaving the company now that AEW Grand Slam is done. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that AEW talent didn’t even know about Buddy Matthews’ exit.

“I know a lot of the talent did not know of any of this untl today. It’s not like word was going around on Wednesday when they taped that the word was going aroudn that this is Buddy’s last match or anything like that, you know they didn’t really know anything.”

Matthews also seemingly denied reports of his AEW departure. We will have to wait and see whether more ex-WWE stars will return to WWE or not.
