Taz brought the FTW Championship out in the world back in 1998 in ECW. HOOK recently won the title on AEW Dynamite ‘Fight for the Fallen’ special, and Taz reacted to his win.
HOOK is carrying on the legacy of Taz by winning the belt, and he’s learned plenty from his father throughout the years. The star recently spoke with New York Post and revealed what his father told him when he was young.
Taz apparently told a young HOOK that he should choose any profession but pro wrestling. This definitely didn’t age well, as HOOK is already seeing a lot of success at the age of 23. However, he added that pro wrestling is now a different business than before.
When I was younger, my dad told me to be anything but a pro wrestler. As I got older, things changed, and the business today is not the same business that he broke into.
The pro-wrestling veteran also chimed in and said that the decision was ultimately HOOK’s to make. He said that if HOOK is old enough to get a drink for himself, he’s old enough to make his own decisions.
If he’s old enough to go to a bar and get a shot of whiskey, he’s old enough to make his own decisions, right? That’s how I was raised.
HOOK is seen as one of the most potential-rich stars in AEW. Taz is part of the AEW broadcast team and often gets to react to his son’s in-ring strides. HOOK and Taz have also worked together, as he was part of Team Taz.
