WWE let go of several people over the last couple of years. Now it seems that another former WWE Superstar is coming to AEW.
Gran Metalik wrestled in the finals of the Cruiserweight Classic but failed to win the tournament and the Cruiserweight Championship. His loss, however, did not stop Triple H from signing him to a full-time contract. Metalik performed on the 205 Live brand before receiving his release papers in 2021. It seems that he’s found a new destination.
Grand Metalik performed for AEW during the latest Dark Elevation tapings inside the MVP Arena in Albany, NY. PW Insider reported that Metalik (now going by the name Mascara Dorada) defeated Serpentico with Luther after a superkick and Dorada Driver.
Metalik asked for his release in the fall of 2021. The former 205 Live star and Lince Dorado were released from their contracts in November 2021. The two had approached the WWE with their release request after disagreeing with the finish to a match.
Metalik reverted to his Mascara Dorado gimmick and posted a new video to hype up his in-ring return in January 2022. The former Lucha House Party member squared off with Joey Janela in GCW as well.
