Kenny Omega took an injury break after dropping the AEW World Championship to Adam Page at Full Gear in 2021. Ringside News exclusively reported that The Cleaner sent feelers out to WWE during his injury hiatus. It appears that AEW won’t be letting their top star go out of the company that easily.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Kenny Omega’s contract with AEW will expire in February. The veteran journalist believes AEW will extend the contract by several months due to Omega’s ongoing on-screen absence following the All Out brawl.
Kenny’s contract is up in February but they will likely add the 9-10 months for his being out, so likely end of 2023. We don’t know they will. Young Bucks deal is up around Jan. 1, 2024, give or take a week. But not earlier. I don’t know the actual date of signing but they couldn’t have signed until Jan. 1
Kenny Omega and The Elite were involved in a backstage fight with CM Punk and Ace Steel after the Second City Saint blasted the trio, Colt Cabana and Adam Page during the post-PPV press conference.
Tony Khan stripped The Elite and Punk of their titles during a previous episode of Dynamite. Khan booked Pac and The Death Triangle to win the AEW World Trios Championship as well. The AEW World Champion, on the other hand, will be awarded to the winner of the Grand Slam Tournament of Champions on Sept. 21.
