AEW is in chaos right now, and fans aren’t the only ones with questions. The rumor mill is churning at full steam, and the brawl after All Out is the root of a lot of that. Still, CM Punk was already injured before that brawl took place.
Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall that AEW held another mandatory meeting before Dynamite this week. This comes just a couple of weeks after their last meeting where they address contract tampering and backstage drama.
We’re told that an AEW talent meeting was set to take place at 4:15 PM EST, with talent, referees, coaches and announcers. Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley were set to lead the meeting. Chris Jericho had been complimented by several on the AEW roster about his demeanor and resolve as the Elite/CM Punk situation unfolded.
It was also confirmed that CM Punk will need surgery for whatever injury he sustained at All Out. That injury was not disclosed in the report. Suspensions came to everyone who was involved in that backstage fight.
CM Punk is in Chicago, and not in Buffalo, where Dynamite is taking place. CM Punk and Ace Steel had a Zoom call with AEW officials at 4 PM EST. We have not heard how that meeting went.
