Gunther used to be known as WALTER during his NXT UK days and had a history-making run as the NXT UK Champion. He lost the title to Ilja Dragunov at NXT TakeOver 36, something that fans did not expect.
WWE recently announced NXT Europe, as NXT UK is a thing of the past. NXT Europe will “reimagine the brand and talent pipeline” with a renewed focus on Europe. NXT UK will be going on hiatus for a few months after their Worlds Collide event.
While speaking with Cultaholic Wrestling, Gunther was asked whether he’s been approached about working with NXT Europe. Gunther made it clear he is open to working in NXT Europe.
“I think it’s still so fresh that there aren’t really concrete plans or anything. But I’m definitely up to being involved somehow. I think it’d a great progression from NXT UK. I think there’s a lot of potential in NXT Europe so I hope we can do our part in that.”
Gunther also defended his Intercontinental Championship against Sheamus at WWE Clash At The Castle. We will have to wait and see what the company has planned for him next.
