AEW President Tony Khan is very passionate about pro wrestling and that is without question. However, Khan has the tendency of saying some very bizarre things that land him in trouble with the public eye. He also made an interesting claim recently.

AEW has certainly gone through a lot of changes over the years. It has also grown in numerous ways, but there are still many aspects of the company that can be improved upon.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Tony Khan talked about the state of the business. Khan then went on to claim that AEW will gross over $100 million this year.

“We have a chance to hit these heights at the perfect time. I would say, the success we’ve had has been so great. The way the business is going right now, you’re [Meltzer] the most optimistic person I know. 99% of what you say is pointing people in that direction.

This is the first time there have been two wrestling companies that have the ability to be the number one show that night on cable and two wrestling companies that are grossing the kind of money…I’m not grossing a billion dollars, but I’m gonna gross over $100 million this year.

That’s pretty unprecedented and it’s been over 20 years since anybody is doing that. To me, success is sustaining it.”

It should be noted that TK said “gross” and not “net.” That being said, AEW spends a ton of money, and they sunk eight figures into their video game division too.

We will have to wait and see whether Tony Khan’s claim turns out to be true or not. In the meantime, the company will continue to move forward under Khan’s vision.
