Tyler Bate was only 19 years old when he won the NXT UK Championship. Bate defeated longtime friend and rival Pete Dunne to become the first-ever NXT UK Champion in January 2017. Tonight, he once again captured the title, but fans already knew it was going to happen.

Bate took on fellow Mustache Mountain member Trent Seven in the tournament finals to determine the new NXT UK Champion. The tournament was announced after Ilja Dragunov vacated the title due to injury.

Bate defeated Seven via a Tyler Driver ’97 and captured the NXT UK Championship for the second time in his career. For those not in the know, the match had already happened on July 7, 2022, in London, England.

WWE aired the match on tape delay. The September 1st, 2022, episode of NXT UK also marked the culmination of the brand. WWE had already released a number of NXT UK superstars from their contracts. This is why Bate had the NXT UK Title when he showed up on NXT 2.0, because he already won the title. They just didn’t air it until today.
