Tony Khan’s love for pro wrestling drove him to create a wrestling promotion in the first place. Khan has a passion for the sport and there’s no arguing that. His booking, especially involving the women’s division, however, has been receiving a lot of criticism of late.
Khan was on the media call for All Out during the day, and he disagreed with the criticism that AEW gave little TV time to Thunder Rosa to explain her injury. Khan said he doesn’t see Rosa’s promo skills as good for ratings and would always book what’s best for the ratings.
Naturally, fans had a lot to say. One fan chimed in to say, “Beck Lynch and Sasha Banks are huge stars for WWE. for that to happen, WWE invested prime TV time and presented them seriously for years Tony Khan’s done none of those things for the AEW women’s division. They’ve not been given the chance to elevate themselves to that level.”
J.C. of J.C’s World tweeted out an observation about Tony Khan. “Tony Khan making certain comments towards women’s wrestlers have become a noticeable trend lately…” This received a reply that said, “he is slowly killing that women’s division.”
Fans were quick to drag the AEW head honcho on Twitter for his latest comments regarding Thunder Rosa. Many pointed out that he hadn’t taken the women’s division seriously and that the female performers weren’t given the chance to elevate themselves. Check out some of the reactions below.
