Tony Khan disrupted the world of pro wrestling by bringing AEW to life. Earlier this year, he became the owner of Ring of Honor, which is already a big promotion. Fans wondered what this meant for ROH’s future, and how the programming would change.
Colt Cabana is involved in the ROH re-launch. ROH also brought some big names under the fold, such as The Boys and The Briscoes. Tony Khan recently confirmed via conference call that he is working on bringing back a ROH show on a week-to-week basis.
The AEW and ROH owner acknowledged that there are a lot of challenges for stars from both companies. He said that an AEW champion and a ROH champion would have to work hard to defend their titles.
Khan added that the challenges would extend to both AEW and ROH stars. Luckily, he’s working to figure out a way to make the ROH weekly shows happen with these things in mind.
I do think it would be challenging for an AEW Champion and a Ring of Honor Champion to meet the obligations on a week-in, week-out bases of both the titles. They would be expected to defend those belts a lot. There is a lot of different wrestlers from both companies. Hopefully when we get Ring of Honor going on a weekly bases, it’s still something I’m working regularly to get, to make happen.
Tony Khan announced the purchase of ROH back in March, In May, he celebrated the closing of the sale. The promotion held one event back in April, which was the Supercard of Honor. With fans wanting the promotion back, their wishes could be fulfilled very soon.
