AEW President Tony Khan is very passionate about pro wrestling and that is without question. However, Khan has the tendency of saying some very bizarre things that land him in trouble with the public eye. Eric Bischoff also went after Tony Khan again recently.
As many people are aware by now, Tony Khan and Eric Bischoff do not necessarily have the best of relationships. The two had a falling out last year and it has not really gotten any better.
The company also has a lot of drama involving CM Punk. On top of that, there were even more backstage issues with Thunder Rosa, Eddie Kingston and Sammy Guevara. It led to Tony Khan holding a mandatory meeting last week before AEW Dynamite as well.
While speaking on an edition of 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff compared AEW’s current backstage situation to WCW while he also criticized Tony Khan’s lack of leadership skills.
“There’s a lack of leadership, there’s a lack of direction. And it does feel that way [as it did in WCW], doesn’t it? There was a lack of leadership during that time in late ’98 or ’99, in particular. I have admitted so many times that I was burnt. I was tired of fighting a fight I knew I wasn’t going to win. I disengaged.”
Christopher Daniels also recently claimed that everything is fine in AEW. We will have to wait and see how AEW will be able to rectify its current ongoing issues backstage.
