Jon Moxley opened the August 31, 2022, edition of Dynamite with a promo. The Undisputed AEW World Champion said he wasn’t sorry for exposing Punk during their world title match on Dynamite last week. Mox then showed an open contract which he left in the ring for any opponent to sign.
AEW producer and longtime friend of CM Punk, Ace Steel, picked the open contract from the ring and took it backstage. Punk arrived to the ring to cut a promo later during the night. The Second City Saint talked about his foot injury that cost him his title match last week on Dynamite.
Punk said his foot wasn’t a hundred percent when he wrestled Jon Moxley for the Undisputed AEW World Championship. Punk said he came back because he loves this business and the fans. Punk said he felt he let the fans down and got visibly upset during the promo.
Ace Steel interrupted the promo and said this wasn’t the Punk he knew. He said he coached Punk from day one, adding that Punk was family to him. He told Punk he never let the fans down and convinced him to sign the contract for the world title match at All Out. Punk obliged and the match was made official for All Out.
