WWE Hall of Famer Edge shocked the world after making his return to pro wrestling during the 2020 Royal Rumble. It was 9 years after he was forced into retirement due to a neck injury. Edge could also retire at next year’s WWE SummerSlam.
As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Edge and Damian Priest put on a banger of the match in the main event. Following the match, Edge was attacked by Judgment Day before Beth Phoenix returned and helped out her husband.
After the show went off the air, Edge indicated that his retirement was coming soon. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Edge could retire at next year’s SummerSlam. He added that Edge might just want to retire on his own terms.
He gave the impression that the show in August might be SummerSlam and he said that it could be the end of this run. He signed a 3-year deal when he came back, but of course, he can retire if he wants to. It’s very hard to walk away from that. He may feel that way today, but a year from now, who knows how he’ll feel. I think he probably would want to retire in Toronto and choose his own way of retiring.
We will have to wait and see if Edge really will retire next year or not. The Rated R Superstar had a legendary career, so he can hang up his pro wrestling boots without any regrets this time around.
