Adam Page lost the AEW World Championship at Double Or Nothing, as he was unable to defeat CM Punk. After that, fans felt Adam Page was lacking in direction. He was also criticized for going off script during his feud with CM Punk.
As seen on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, CM Punk kicked off the show with a promo. He addressed Adam Page and issued a rematch to the Cowboy. However, he was quite condescending in the promo and dubbed the whole thing as ‘less important.’
Punk essentially buried Adam Page and since then, there has been a lot of backstage turmoil, with talent taking both Punk and Page’s side. While speaking on the official Jim Cornette YouTube channel, Jim Cornette criticized Page for going off script during his feud with CM Punk ahead of Double Or Nothing.
“When Page apparently went to business for himself with his inexplicable rambling that he wasn’t talented enough to pull off, that was before the main event of a pay-per-view. That was one of the bigger houses and overall revenue producing nights in AEW history and this f**king jackoff is out there trying to make up his own s**t. Not only is Adam Page a lyrical wordsmith, he can barely f**king read the cue cards.
He didn’t need to try to be jousting with CM Punk anyway. That’s why Punk looked so confused because they had to have a plan when they went out there. But when old hangnail bows up and starts doing a bunch of s**t, how was Punk going to be unprofessional and say ‘you just said a bunch of shit that you’re not supposed to say. I don’t know what to say back to you because you’re a f**king idiot.”
CM Punk’s promo on Adam Page was also a receipt for what Page had said about him months prior. We will have to wait and see whether things between the two will get better or not.
