Sammy Guevara became one of the most beloved stars in AEW, mainly thanks to his solid in-ring prowess. He used to be a fan-favorite but that is all in the past now. He also had a huge idea for the first Blood & Guts match.
The Spanish God has largely been associated with Chris Jericho since the beginning of AEW back in 2019. He aligned himself with Jericho as part of The Inner Circle and now as part of The Jericho Appreciation Society.
During last year’s Blood & Guts match, The Pinnacle squared off against The Inner Circle. It featured MJF helping his team win the match and then throwing Jericho off the cage. If it was up to Guevara, it wouldn’t have been that way.
While speaking in a virtual signing with Highspots Sign-It-Live, Sammy Guevara revealed that he wanted to get thrown off the top of the cage during last year’s Blood & Guts match.
“I did try to get thrown off the cage in that first one. Because [Jericho] was taking it. But in the second one, Chris texted me and said ‘We can do whatever you want this year.’ And we saw what happened
Guevara was thrown from the top in Blood & Guts II by Eddie Kingston. Kingston has also challenged Guevara to a singles match at AEW All Out. Guevara got to take that bump, but he had to wait a year for it to happen.
