The final match in the first round of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament is scheduled to take place tonight on SmackDown. It is advertised on WWE.com and is still listed on the website. However, it appears that the event may be in doubt.

On the Bryan and Vinny Show, Bryan Alvarez gave a serious update on Zoey’s injury. It is not known how serious the injury or how long she’ll be sidelined. Alvarez however said that it is certain Zoey will be out of the women’s tournament.

I have been told that Zoey [Stark] is injured. I don’t know how seriously, I don’t know for how long, but she got hurt in the match [with Mandy Rose in which Stark unsuccessfully challenged for the “NXT” Women’s Championship on “NXT 2.0” this week]. So now, and this is not confirmed, but I’m pretty sure, I believe that they are now out of the women’s tournament.

As of this writing, Zoey Stark and Nikkita Lyons are still scheduled to make their SmackDown debuts tonight against Natalya and Sonya Deville. The winning team will on to the semifinals, where they will play Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah. Stark’s ruptured MCL/Meniscus injury, which she sustained near the end of 2021, has only recently made a full recovery.

On July 19th, Stark made a comeback and defeated 20 other women in a battle royal to earn a crack at the “NXT” Women’s Championship. A well-known NXT 2.0 team is supposedly going to take the position of the Stark and Lyons squad. Stay tuned to Ringside News for latest WWE news and updates.
