Chris Jericho is truly a veteran in the pro wrestling business. Jericho has competed in various promotions all over the world in his career that has spanned more than 30 years. The AEW elder statesman doesn’t want to make a fool of himself, and The Wizard recently revealed that he will retire before that day comes.

The former AEW World Champion was recently interviewed by Eric Ball of Bleacher Report at San Diego Comic-Con. The subject of Jericho perhaps hanging up his boots after nearly 32 years in the profession was brought up. Jericho believes that the key to longevity is self-awareness.

It’s been such a great run with AEW and it’s really reinvigorated my love for the business. I still think I’m doing some of the best work of my career. I really do. If I didn’t feel [I’m doing my best work] I might think about ‘it’s time to walk away.’ You don’t want to be an embarrassment to yourself or a shell of yourself.

The 51-year-old wrestler recently challenged Jon Moxley for the Interim AEW Championship. The former WWE Champion and first AEW Champion then lost a bloody war to Moxley. Odds are Jericho was more of those matches left in him.

In addition to his responsibilities in the ring and as an analyst for AEW, Jericho is also on tour with his band Fozzy, who just released the album “Boombox” in May. I Still Burn, the album’s debut track, has been ascending the mainstream rock charts. Later this year, the group plans to visit the UK and Australia before setting sail on Chris Jericho’s Rockin’ Rager At Sea cruise in February 2023. Needless to say, Chris Jericho will probably be busy, even if he retires from the ring.
