Rey Mysterio is one of the most recognizable names in the professional wrestling business. He has dedicated more than 30 years of his life to the industry and has a ton of respect from fans and peers alike. He also still has some of CM Punk’s hair.
In 2010, Mysterio and CM Punk were engaged in a very intense feud. They faced off at several pay-per-views, including Over The Limit 2010, where Mysterio beat Punk in a Straight Edge Society pledge vs. Hair Match and shaved him bald.
While speaking with Alex McCarthy for Inside The Ropes, Rey Mysterio talked about the match. Mysterio revealed that he still has some of CM Punk’s hair in a Ziploc bag.
“I still have some of his hair in a little Ziploc bag with the date. That’s what we do in lucha libre. When you have a Mask vs. Mask [match], if you win and you take your opponent’s mask, then you keep it as a trophy. If you have a Mask vs. Hair or a Hair vs. Hair match and you happen to win, I learned this from my uncle, just from growing up in lucha libre, my uncle would collect the hair of his opponent and put it in a little baggie, date it, label it with the opponent, where it was at, and it was kind of like a souvenir, a trophy. So I do have CM Punk’s hair in a little Ziploc bag. It’s in one of my photo albums.”
Rey Mysterio is currently feuding with Judgment Day alongside his son Dominik and Edge. We will have to wait and see how their feud will progress in the coming weeks.
