WWE held three-day tryouts for potential Performance Center recruits this past April during WrestleMania weekend in Dallas. More than 50 current and recent college athletes participated in the tryouts. Of the 50 who tried out, 17 were chosen as the new recruits at the WWE Performance Center.
The 17 recruits include those with backgrounds in MMA, soccer, football, volleyball, and other areas. Perhaps the name with the most recognition is former Bellator MMA fighter Valerie Loureda. She made headlines several weeks ago when she became the first Cuban-American to sign with WWE.
After Loureda signed with the company, WWE Head of Talent Relations and Creative Triple H expressed his optimism for the former MMA fighter on Twitter. It should be noted that Loureda had signed a multi-year. multi-fight contract extension with Bellator in mid-August 2020.
The announcement of the new Performance Center recruits comes at a time of significant changes within the company. With new management in charge, it’ll be interesting to see where these new recruits’ careers go in the future. You can check out the complete list of recruits below.
Valerie Loureda – Acclaimed mixed martial artist who previously fought in Bellator, where she compiled a 4-1 record. .
Tracy Hancock – Internationally renowned amateur wrestler, having competed at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Alexis Lete– A former Miss Indiana and spent four years on the George Washington University volleyball team as their leading middle blocker.
Tiller Bucktrot – Former offensive lineman for Tulsa University.
Abule Abadi-Fitzgerald – Spent four seasons as a defensive tackle for Kentucky.
AJ Amrhein – Well-renowned fitness instructor from Scottsburg, Ind., and a former tumbler on the prestigious Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling team.
Antoine Frazier– Hails from Huffman, Texas, where he excelled on the football field before going on to become a regular on the offensive line for both Kansas University and the University of Northern Iowa.
Isaac Odugbesan – Three-time SEC shot put champion.
Daniel McArthur – Four-time NCAA All-American and ACC Track & Field Champion from the University of North Carolina.
Gina DeLucia 24-year-old Crossfit competitor ranked among the top 200 females in the United States.
Giovanna Eburneo – Has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, winning both Pan-American and European Championships.
Houston Miller – Played three seasons for Texas Tech along the defensive line.
Caleb Balgaard – Multi-sport athlete originally from Fenton, Mich.
Joe Spivak– 2021-22 WWE NIL Athlete out of Northwestern University.
Sarah Baer – Standout collegiate soccer and basketball player at both Bowling Green University and Lynn University.
Tiana Caffey – Former collegiate soccer player from LSU.
