Matt Riddle’s stoner character draws many comparisons to former WWE Champion Rob Van Dam. They both share a very laid-back personality that endeared them to fans. While a future team-up seems unlikely, RVD has said he’s down for it.

During an interview with NBC Sports Boston’s Steve Fall, RVD spoke about potentially teaming up with Riddle if he was offered the chance. According to RVD, the chances of that happening depend solely on whether WWE wants to rehire someone with his personality and years of experience.

That would be awesome, yeah (teaming with Riddle). I feel like if they wanted me there, then I would be there. They would make it so that I would want to be there. So on the front, without having any, just being on the fence and not feeling hungry or either way, just whatever happens, like RVD is, I feel like that. I don’t know what they wanna do, what their plan is, what their agenda is for all their talent now. They seem like they want more normal-looking people that normal-looking people can relate to. I really don’t even know. It’s whatever, but you know I’m around, and I do have a legends deal with WWE.

Riddle was taken off television after suffering a kayfabe injury at the hands of Seth Rollins. WWE announced his return for this week’s Raw, where he’ll address his future with the company. If Riddle’s okay, maybe fans will someday see him tagging up with RVD.
