Matt Cardona was known as Zack Ryder during his time in WWE as he worked hard to establish himself in the company. Cardona was insanely over in the company back in 2011, but WWE failed to truly capitalize on it. Cardona also doesn’t rule out returning to WWE.
Following his WWE release, Cardona was determined to hone his craft. He did exactly that by making a huge impact in promotions such as Impact Wrestling, GCW and NWA, among others.
Triple H was made the head of WWE Creative after Vince McMahon retired and many fans rejoiced at this. While speaking to Wrestling Inside The Ropes, Matt Cardona stated that he is not sure if he would come back to WWE even though Triple H is head of Creative now.
“With Triple H is calling everybody back supposedly, if he called me back, of course I’d have a conversation. But, I don’t know if I’d go back. I don’t know. I mean, of course ‘never say never’ but I mean, my schedule now is pretty great, I’m making a lot of money and I’m having a lot of fun so it’s hard to trade that in for just to be a name on a roster. I already did that.
I will say one non-negotiable is that the podcast and all its brands and entities would have to be carved into the contract, like untouchable. There’s no way I’d ever stop doing this stuff because it’s my passion, it’s so much fun. We took a chance when no one else wanted to do this and it’s making us a lot of money and we’re having a lot of fun doing it and it’s my passion, I love it and there’s no way I could ever stop doing that.”
Matt Cardona will be making his return at NWA 74. It will take place on August 27th this year. We will have to wait and see what NWA will have planned for Matt Cardona, now that he will be returning to in-ring action later this month.
