The drastic change in character for Roman Reigns over the years has been well documented. He went from being an utterly dull babyface to one of the most compelling heels in WWE. He also isn’t a stranger when it comes to accolades in the company.
Roman Reigns was an eyesore for many when he was a babyface and fans and pro wrestlers alike agreed with this notion. This is in spite of the fact that Reigns competed in high profile matches against the very best.
During his promo against Seth Rollins, on a SmackDown episode on January 9th, 2015, Reigns called Rollins winner a “sniveling little suck-up sellout full of sufferin’ succotash!”
While speaking on the Cheap Heat podcast, former WWE writer Brian Gewirtz claimed that he warned WWE about how bad the “sufferin’ succotash” promo will turn out to be.
“I was consulting WWE at the time. I saw ‘suffering succotash’ in the script, and I was just like sending out flare guns like, no! Don’t have him say that. There’s no good way you could say that.”
Reigns will defend his titles against Drew McIntyre at WWE Clash At The Castle. We will have to wait and see how the match will turn out to be.
