Paige was forced into an early retirement back in 2017. After that, she kept herself busy with a variety of roles in WWE and had a solid run on Twitch until her contract expired. Gail Kim recently said that Paige would be warmly welcomed at IMPACT Wrestling.
For the first time in ten years, Paige, one of the pioneers of the Women’s Evolution period in the WWE, is no longer under contract with the company. Although she hasn’t been given the go-ahead to compete yet, she still wants to go back into the ring. She is welcome to compete in the Knockouts category of IMPACT, according to Gail Kim, another pioneer in contemporary women’s wrestling.
Gail Kim was recently questioned by Steve Fall of NBC Sports Boston about whether or not Paige in IMPACT is a scenario that interests her. She said that she admires everything Paige has done for women’s wrestling. Kim made it plain that the door is open for the first NXT Women’s Champion to appear in IMPACT if she wants to.
Never say never. I love Paige. I admire everything that she’s done for women’s wrestling. She also came up kind of in that period where, maybe, it was so powerful — like what it is now — women’s wrestling is probably at its best right now. Main eventing pay-per-view shows, it’s not an irregular thing for that to happen. Paige was part of that process. I have nothing but respect for her in and outside of the ring, and hey, if she wants to come over to IMPACT Wrestling, I feel like the door’s open. So, come on over, Paige.
The current Knockouts Champion, Jordynne Grace, has also stated her desire to wrestle Paige. Let’s see what’s in store for Paige in the future. Check out Gail Kim’s full interview with Steve Fall of NBC Sports Boston below.
