There has been a lot of speculation on whether fans would see a change in the way WWE tells stories with Triple H in charge. One time period that saw a lot of change in WWE was the famed Attitude Era. During this era, fans were greeted with very mature themes and suggestive images on television.
One storyline that shocked many watching during this time was the story involving Mae Young and Mark Henry. Back when Henry portrayed the “Sexual Chocolate” gimmick, he was involved in a romantic relationship with Young, who revealed that she was pregnant with his child. Young ended up giving birth to a hand in the doctor’s clinic.
The World Strongest Man spoke with CBS Sport’s Shakiel Mahjouri about the storyline and pitted the blame on the WWE writers at the time. He said that The Attitude Era was filled with a lot of “shock jock.”
The writers are the ones responsible for that. Because they’re little perverts (he laughs), I mean, just to put it mildly. Like, people say stuff and they really don’t believe all of that. You know, they’re trying to be entertaining, and back then in The Attitude Era, they wanted to push the envelope. There was a lot of shock jock stuff going on.
Henry doesn’t have to worry about what the WWE writers will have him do on television. He’s currently signed to AEW, where he does a lot of announcing for their television show, Rampage.
